This Disney On Broadway Concert Series performance features 2 stars from different Disney broadway musicals. The 2 Disney Broadway singers named Sierra Boggess and Jelani Remy. Sierra Boggess was known as Ariel in the Disney Broadway musical The Little Mermaid and Jelani Remy was known as Simba in the Disney Broadway's The Lion King.
Sierra Boggess & Jelani Remy — January 17, 20, 21, 23, 25, 28 and 29
Sierra Boggess and Jelani Remy began their performance with singing the song "You'll Be In My Heart" from the Disney broadways Tarzan.
Jelani pointed out the fact that this is Sierra Boggess' first time here in the Festival of the Arts and he calls her Disney on Broadway royalty. Before they continue with the show, they introduce some important special people to us and they introduce their incredible band to the audience including me.
They got Jeremy on drums
They got Bob on base
They have Alejandro on guitar
They got Robert on keys
And last but certainly not least, they got their outstanding choreographer/music director Jim Abbot
Jelani Remy continues by saying he bought The Lion King cassette tape with his birthday money. Playing the role of Simba, he took with him was authenticity, and always to remember who you are. He then sings the song "Endless Night".
Next Sierra Boggess continues by taking us to the streets of Paris with a song that's about asking for compassion in a world that doesn't always show it. Sierra Boggess sings the song "God Help The Outcast" from Disney's The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
Sierra and Jelani then talks about them being together in the exact same theatre camp together. Apparently, Jelani Remy was in Group A and Sierra Boggess was in Group E. They were talking about how they turned their chaos into music which led them to their next song. So they sang the song "Trashing the Camp" from Tarzan.
Next, Sierra Boggess talks about her experience playing the role of Ariel. Ariel is basically her favorite Disney princess. When she practiced and prepared, she got into the swimming pool and wonder how it feels like. She then taped into her spirit. Her courage, her conviction and clarity of knowing who she knows she is and being in this world. And once she really taped into that, she knew exactly how she wanted to bring Ariel to life on stage. So Sierra Boggess sang the song "Part of Your World" from the Little Mermaid. Sierra sings the song Part of Your World really beautifully.
Then Jelani Remy decided he wanted to sing a song for Sierra Boggess in her honor. He sings the song "Kiss the Girl" also from The Little Mermaid. He even got the audience involved by singing along with him. While he was singing the song Kiss the Girl, he was doing this incredibly funny dance which was awesome, it even got Sierra laugh. Jelani even got to go out to the audience as well. Then at the end of the song Sierra Boggess literally kissed Jelani on the cheek and that was so sweet. Plus Sierra thinks Jelani makes the perfect Sebastian.
Next, they conclude their performance by both of them singing the song. They scattered, they prayed and they dreamed. Disney on Broadway shows are all about hope, imagination, and about believing that you can be anything bigger than you've ever possibly thought that you can be. Because wether you're a mermaid or a lion, it all starts with a dream. So they concluded their performance by both of them singing the song "A Million Dreams" from The Greatest Showman.
Thanks for watching everyone!
