Faking positivity on social media is far from uncommon.
People who make thousands and thousands of dollars from hosting their own retreats or having a mentorship program must promote themselves as someone who knows what they’re talking about and has all the answers you’re looking for.
And the way that positivity is commonly promoted these days is very unhealthy and harmful. Instead of striving to understand and work through our emotions, we are told to suppress the unpleasant ones and focus on the positives!
Even though people mean well when they give this type of advice, it's not usually the best thing for us to do.
