Every legendary story starts somewhere. For Tiger Woods and the Open Championship that was the 124th Open in 1995, held at the iconic Old Course in St Andrews.
Coming in as an exciting amateur prospect, qualifying as the 1994 US Amateur Champion, the American quickly showed the qualities that would see him become a future three-time Open champion and 15-time major winner.
Tiger made the cut in his first appearance at The Open. The 1995 Open was eventually won by John Daly and was the last Open appearance for the great Arnold Palmer, himself a two-time winner.
As we all know, just five years after his introduction to The Open, Tiger would go on to win his first Claret Jug in 2000, before triumphing again in 2005 and 2006.
We have some of the best moments from the early days of Tiger’s era-defining career.
